Woolworths Department Stores are retrospectively taking legal action against 398 Newry residents for ‘serious historic theft’.
The allegations are to do with people taking ‘too many sweets’ in their famous ‘pick n mix’ section that Woolworths are claiming caused the store to close down.
A Woolworths spokesman told Newry Spud:
“I know it’s been a number of years but we are now ready to take the 398 thieves to court to get at least some of our revenue back. We estimate that between these 398 people who were children at the time they caused us a loss of around the region of £3.8 million.
Our Newry shop had a fantastic ‘pick n mix’ section that was absolutely ravaged by Newry folk who seemed to have a policy that it was one sweet for their bag and 2 or 3 sweets for their greedy fat mouths.”
