American Super-Band The Red Hot Chili Peppers played a secret gig in Newry AOH last Monday morning it has been revealed by the organisation.
The 3 regulars of the AOH were left flabbergasted and in some cases annoyed when Antony Keidis, Flea and the rest of The Red Hot Chili Peppers decided to test out a few new tracks in the run-up to their much-awaited Tennent’s Vital gig next month.
Local man and Hibs regular Mr Maurice Cooney told Newry Spud:
“I thought it was another one of Doot’s (Frank Craven Bar Manager) diddly-dee bands that he usually books for parties. These yanks didn’t really bother me singing about Scar Tissue and the like because I was too busy on my Paddy Power app on my phone and ignored them, like I usually do with everyone! They were loud and shit and honestly, “when I was in management in Jersey, I would never have had them back a second time!!”
But Molly Maguire a spokesperson for Newry AOH told Newry Spud:
“We only agreed to let them practice because we thought it was The Wobbly Heads in preparation for their Eurovision performance and as per our policy we like to give youth a chance. Little did we know it was The Red Hot Chili Peppers like.”
