Newry’s Call Centre Teleperformance has upped their standard and in future any employee must at least be able to speak 3 words without falling over.
Previously there were no official requirements in order to get a job in the Call Centre but Teleperformance have said due to several failings in their recruitment process they had to change this policy.
A spokesperson told Newry Spud:
“We had to up the standard of those that we employ to a minimum requirement of being able to string 3 words together. Basically we found that our previous system employed several undesirables. We discovered we had 2 Monkey’s, a Donkey and a headless mannequin doll manning the phone lines. It was outrageous really, although we have decided to keep one of the Monkeys and the Donkey because they are great workers if truth be told.”
But the news has not gone down well with various workers Union’s. A Union representative told Newry Spud:
“This requirement is unjust and unrealistic in the Newry area. Only 4% of Newry people can speak in an effect manner, 3 full words is unrealistic. This is an outrage.”
