Sinn Féin woman Naomi Bailie has been awarded the freedom of Bangor county Down we can reveal this morning.

Bailie a lifelong advocate for Bangor and the diversity of the town has been awarded the distinguished honour at a meeting of the council last night and will be awarded with the honour by DUP man Jim Wells at a gala ball in Rathfriland on Sunday.

Speaking about the award Ms Bailie’s friend and journalist Suzanne Breen told Newry Spud:

“Naomi deserves this honour more than anyone in recent living memory. The tireless work she has done for Bangor in promotion of the ‘KultureFest’ and Orangism in general has been quite inspirational.”

Naomi Bailie is a former Newry, Mourne & Down District Council Councillor and is now a political advisor (gets paid for doing nothing) to election hopeful Chris Hazzard.
