Sinn Fein’s Oonagh Magennis has pledged that she will restore the price of Freddo Bars to 10p if she gets re-elected to the Council in May.
The Sinn Fein woman has been pulling out all the stops ahead of the elections to shore up votes. Her latest pledge comes days after telling south Armagh and Newry voters that Sinn Fein will bring everyone breakfast in bed if they vote for them.
A Sinn Fein spokesperson told Newry Spud:
“This country has gone to rack and ruin. People are sick to the back teeth of listening to the SDLP yapping around Newry. We offer Ireland, Newry and south Armagh in particular, a new alternative. I’m not sure what they are yet – Conor Murphy is working on that at the moment.”
Opponents have hit back at Magennis, saying that the fluctuation of the price of Freddo chocolate bars reflects the volatility of the underlying commodity prices and that Sinn Fein are only doing this as a reaction to SDLP’s bold pledge to reduce the price of Taz bars.
