There’s a buzz across Newry this week as the Ireland Has Talent roadshow finally reached the city on Tuesday morning.
Due to be aired on RTÉ, the programme is scouring the land in search of the country’s most gifted individuals. According to organisers, there are no clear rules on what can be considered a ‘talent’.
Open auditions will be held in Newry, Warrenpoint, Bessbrook, Crossmaglen, Burren and Hilltown, with the winner being invited to the final in Belfast on September the 26th.
Peter Lewis, the show’s production manager, says he has high hopes for Newry.
“Newry is brimming with talent. We’ve already met someone who can drink 12 pints of cider and a bottle of whiskey in 37 seconds and a housewife you can balance a broomstick under her tits without using her hands, quite incredible stuff.
“It’s early days, but I reckon she could go quite far”.
