The UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak has caused a lot of confusion and panic in the south Armagh area today we can reveal.
Sunak has sensationally legalised red diesel for all vehicles and has cut customs on tobacco that will be sure to leave a massive vacuum in the local economy.
We spoke with Sinn Féin’s Conor Murphy who told Newry Spud:
“Clearly this just isn’t acceptable from the British treasury today. While 99% of the country may welcome this move there is a thriving underground economy here in south Armagh that needs to be protected.
I’ll be seeking talks with the British immediately to reinstate the tax on red diesel and tobacco in order to keep employment here high on the agenda.”
