There were scenes of sheer pandemonium in Newry’s Primark in the Buttercrane today when a fight broke out between what the PSNI have described as ‘8-11 pensioners’ fighting over the last pair of ‘Granny Knickers’.

It happened at approximately 12pm when the riot began in the female underwear department say Police.

A PSNI spokeswoman told Newry Spud:

“Police were called to the scene after an altercation broke out between around a dozen grannies fighting over the last pair of spandex granny knickers. 7 of the women have been taken to the nearby Daisy Hill hospital and the remainder are in Ardmore PSNI station facing GBH charges. It was ugly and violent.”
