The world of football has been left shell-shocked after the death of perhaps the greatest player to ever lace up a pair of football boots the one and only Diego Armando Maradona.
The Argentine mesmerized the world with his magical left foot and quickly became an instant folk hero in Ireland after his beautiful ‘hand of God’ goal against England in the 1986 World Cup.
There is a bizarre local connection to the death of Maradona as local funeral directors Pouchers has been tasked with burying the star.
Chief undertaker Jordan Poucher told us:
“We got the call from Diego’s daughter Gianinna Dinorah to fly to Buenos Aires with a bespoke casket to place him in for the 3 days of national mourning. We have been close friends with the Maradona’s for many years now after meeting him in Newry 20 years ago while he was in the town shopping.
He’s become a steadfast friend and confidant to myself personally and I want to assure everyone that I will be on the ground to make sure he is given the very best of send offs. Adiós Diego mi amigo. Adiós.”
