Ex-Mayor of Newry and Armagh Pat McGinn is to take up a new post as Jeremy Corbyn’s spokesman on Northern Irish affairs he has said today.

McGinn whose son Conor is a prominent anti-Corbyn MP has yet to release a tweet about his father’s new role but inside sources have claimed he is ever so ‘slightly saddened’ by the move when he was told today while stuffing his face at the tax-payers expense in some fancy London eatery.

But Pat has come out and said he is his own man and makes his own decisions on these affairs telling Newry Spud:

“I find myself at a loose end these days, between walking up mountains with my bestie mate in the world ever Turlough Murphy and running marathons (walking) I couldn’t turn down the role Jeremy Corbyn offered me, I still haven’t asked Conor if it is okay yet though but I can’t see there being any problems.”
