The parents of a new R Plate driver have said they’re ‘over the moon’ now that they don’t have to drink and drive home from the Mourne Country every weekend.
The 17 year-old driver had no idea she was to become a taxi service for her borderline alcoholic parents.
However we spoke to the parents who told Newry Spud:
“We’ve carted her about for 17 years so the way we see it she has to pay a bit back now. We usually take turns driving home after a feed of drink but thankfully now we have a ready made chauffeur, it’s a win-win.”
But the young newly qualified driver has hit back saying:
“I don’t mind collecting them now and again from The Mourne Country but if they ask me to drive them to The Bernish then there’ll be ructions.”
