Hilltown residents are in uproar this evening after it has emerged that the Newry, Mourne & Down District Council has sold the village for £285.96 on the QVC shopping network we can reveal.
In a move that was not publicly made known the Council put Hilltown up for sale claiming that it was ‘surplus to requirements’ and ‘ungovernable’.
We managed to speak with Sinn Féin Councilor Leeanne McEvoy and she told us:
“We never really bothered with Hilltown. It’s a bit out of the way and nobody in the Council except that ejjit Gerry O’Hare gives a shite about it anyway. QVC approached us and we agreed to quietly sell it off for the highest price. We are delighted to add £285.96 to the Council’s expenses fund; I’m totes getting my highlights and nails done with that mone.”
