Sinn Féin has said that the only acceptable border after a ‘No Deal Brexit’ will be Francie Bellew standing on the road with a stick we can confirm.
There is fear within the local community that we could see a return of British and Irish customs officials between the Louth & Armagh border prompting Sinn Féin to call on Bellew.
Sinn Féin’s Conor Murphy told Newry Spud:
“Obviously we are hoping the British Prime Minister can get a deal done with Europe so we don’t need to call on Francie to patrol the so-called border.
He did a fine job for Crossmaglen & Armagh keeping people at bay so for us if it comes to a border, it will be Francie Bellew walking around the border area with a blackthorn stick.”
