A Newry based Nurse has spoken out tonight about how she was tuned back from a local shop when she tried to pay for her groceries with ‘claps and applause’ we can reveal.
The Nurse who appreciates the time people take out of their lives on Thursday nights was shocked when she couldn’t cash in on the much needed claps.
She told Newry Spud:
“I went to several shops in Newry last Friday after the claps and applause for front line workers and much to my surprise no shop would let me cash the claps in for my families groceries.
It is much appreciated I suppose that people clap and all but like, we can’t really eat the claps and applause. Imagine a world where we were paid a fair wage? That would be nicer.”
