A 12 year-old Newry child has called the NSPCC after his mother returned home this evening with a Ned Kelly’s carry out for dinner we can reveal.

The child made the harrowing phone call when he discovered his mother didn’t get a Friar Tucks as promised but instead came home with a Ned Kelly’s burger and chip.

The clearly distressed child told Newry Spud:

“I think my Ma is getting off lightly with a visit from the child protection services and the PSNI. I felt that she was both mentally torturing me by saying she was getting me a Friar Tucks and on top of that she put my health at risk by putting in front of me a Ned Kelly’s burger that I could have bounced off the 4 walls.”
