Local rap sensation ‘MC Big Roll’ has landed the biggest deal of his young career today with news emerging that he signed a multi-million pound recording contract with Rap Superstars Jay-Z and Kanye West.

Patrick ‘Paddy’ McDonald who prefers to be called by his rap name of ‘MC Big Roll’ has been a sensation since first crafting his art on the mean streets of Newry.

We asked MC Big Roll how this collaboration with Jay-Z and Kanye West came about.  He told Newry Spud:

“Basically, I was spitting some mad lyrical rhymes about the dangers of life in this mad city of Newry in my aong (YeHAA- Newry Crew) and my mates recorded it and put it on Facebook. An Executive from Roc-A-Fella Records that Jay-Z owns contacted me by private message and the rest is history really.”

‘MC Big Roll’ doesn’t just rap about being a true gangster; we have been given access to a litany of his past antics these include:

*In 2011 he received a letter from the Council to keep his music down. A letter he tore up in front of his astonished family.

*In 2013 he stuck a middle finger up to a PSNI police patrol that had just drove past.

*In March 2016 the young rapper cursed at old ladies shopping in Savages Monaghan Street.
