A pensioner from Newry has launched her own company by knitting elaborate scarfs with attached ‘Diddy Warmers.’
Brigid Quinn, who lives with her cat and two dogs, started knitting the ‘Diddy Warmers’ after overhearing a fellow bingo player moaning that she was ‘freezing her diddie’s’ off.
Brigid told Newry Spud:
“I’ve been knitting all my life. When I heard Kathleen saying that she was freezing her diddies off, I thought it might be a nice idea to knit her a pair of ‘Diddy Warmers.’
I gave them to her on yesterday and she was so happy with them that she wore them to bingo last night. Word soon got around and everyone wanted a pair so on Thursday, I phoned Alan Sugar up and he bought me a factory and gave me 100 members of staff.”
Brigid is now hoping to break into the ‘Willy-Warmer’ market. She told us:
“I’m getting a few of the oul boys in Ardmaine Nursing Home to test them and I hope to have them in production by Monday week.”
