Ireland’s first ever Drive-Thru Dole Office will open its doors in Newry this morning in a bid to help ease the pressure of mounting claims.
Rather than queuing for hours to submit forms, claimants will simply drive around the building in their cars before arriving at an intercom, where they will be asked which benefits they would like to claim for.
One dole employee, who will be working at the hatch told Newry Spud:
“I have to ask them questions like: “Are you small, medium or large? If they answer large, I’m able to upgrade them to PIP for an extra £325 a month. It’s a much simpler process”.
