A Newry man has spoken about his success rate of getting free food simply by reading the Irish News death notices we can reveal.
Tom Quinn a 64 year-old man from Newry has claimed he ‘hasn’t bought a loaf’ in 8 years since realising free sandwiches and copious amounts of cups of tea were readily available free from local wake houses.
We spoke with Tom who told us:
“This week was very a busy week. I’ve been at 2 wakes in the local area and I even drove to Dundalk for one wake that I heard was happening. I mean, why everyone doesn’t do this is beyond me.
I’d like to ask local folk though to have a bit more consideration and vary the food choices at wakes, I’m getting sick of egg and onion sandwiches to be honest.”
