A group of heterosexual straight people have decided to hold a ‘Straight Pride Parade’ in Newry on Saturday 31st August to counter the ‘Gay Pride Parade’ held on the same day it has been revealed.
The Newry Gay Pride event has been a successful parade and carnival for several years now and has seen straight people feeling ‘left out’ and ‘discriminated’ against.
Colly Johnson who is leading the heterosexual people’s parade, to the astonishment of friends who thought he would be more ‘at home’ at the Gay event told Newry Spud:
“Why should the gays have all the craic like? I feel like the straight folk of Newry are being marginalised and pushed aside for this festival of gayness! For our straight parade we will have men dressed in army fatigues, men in leather biker outfits and topless muscular men, nothing gay about our parade.”
However a spokesman for ‘Newry Gay Pride’ told Newry Spud:
“Everyone is welcome to our parade, we are saddened that some people feel marginalised by us, we would have no idea how they must feel.”
