A farmer from Mullaghbawn has had his foot surgically removed from a sheep’s vagina.
Liam Smith was attempting to move the animal from the paddock to the barn when the mishap occurred. He told Newry Spud:
“I tried to boot the thing up the arse to get her into the barn. I took a swipe, then there was a loud noise it’s then I realised that my welly boot was stuck right up its flue.
There was nothing I could do to dislodge it. In the end, my wife came running out to help me. Fortunately, the local vet was around the house looking at my wife’s piles.”
The vet managed to surgically removed Mr Smith’s foot but unfortunately, left his welly up there. He told Newry Spud:
“This particular sheep was on heat and her fanny was what we call ‘engorged’. Anything within a 4ft radius would have been sucked in there. It was like a black hole. We’ll retrieve the welly next week.”
