A new tourism venture will be launched by Newry,Mourne & Down Council this week.
‘Newry Safari Tours’ will see an open top Jeep travel through parts of Derrybeg, Barcroft and Parkhead to see the wildlife or ‘residents’ as they are known.
A spokesman for the council told Newry Spud:
“We hope this will bring in a major revenue stream for the district. We have already got tourists pre-booked on the tour but we would like to warn those wanting to take the tour to take proper precautions such as wearing a helmet, carry a gun or any type of weapon such as a hurling stick and mace.
We cannot be responsible for the actions of the locals in these well-known hot-spots for civil disorder.”
