One of Newry’s favourite son’s Lofty Larkin has bought McCoy’s pub that was burned in 2012 and will reopen it as ‘Lofty’s Inn’ in December we have learned.
The famous Newry man who lives in between homes in Athy county Galway and his estate in Newry is believed to have bought the premises as far back as last year and has been secretly renovating it since.
We spoke with Lofty today and he told Newry Spud:
“Listen Rubber-Head, I thought it was time to move on and start my own enterprise. I have been saving for years to be able to open my own licenced premises and I am happy to announce today that ‘Lofty’s Inn’ will be open before Christmas.”
