The Lonsdale League has made an exceptional new rule for one newly formed team from the Bessbrook area we can reveal.

Brookside FC who will play in the second tier of the league this upcoming season will have a distinct advantage to give them a ‘sporting chance’ league chairman Tony Grover.

Mr Grover told us:

“Because of the calibre of this new team from Bessbrook we have decided that we will place the opposition’s goal posts from corner flag to corner flag as to give them a chance to be semi competitive.

We didn’t want to accept them as they are more suited to the Special Olympics but we were threatened by a Court Order so hopefully the new goal posts will help them feel a part of a real football game.”

We tried to talk to a representative from Brookside FC but they were busy playing with crayons.
