A row has erupted over ‘malicious’ and ‘undemocratic’ tampering of the SDLP candidate Karen McKevitt’s election posters for the upcoming Assembly Elections.
It is alleged by the SDLP that members of Sinn Fein replaced McKevitt’s posters with an image of the Cabbage Patch Doll ‘Big Sally’.
We asked McKevitt when this all came to her attention she told Newry Spud:
“It was brought to my attention this morning by an eagle eyed party activist. We have since received information that the posters showing me as a Cabbage Patch Doll have been up 8 days now, the image is just so like me that nobody noticed, however, that’s not the point. It is clear skulduggery from the Shinners, I promise that we will hit back harder. This is war.”
A Sinn Fein spokesman said he “could neither deny, condemn nor acknowledge anything pre 1997 never mind last week” in a coded message sent to Newry Spud’s offices via carrier pigeon.
