Two gay ducks who live on Newry Canal have tied the knot today in a civil partnership ceremony on the mall we can reveal.
In what is thought to be the first ceremony of its type Donald and Dermot two Mallard ducks who have had a ‘loving and committed’ love affair for two years finally made their relationship official.
The loving couple are having their reception in the nearby Canal Court Hotel before they fly off to Omeath for a romantic weekend honeymoon.
We spoke with Dermot the Duck who told us:
“We are delighted to finally be recognised by law as a couple with legal rights. Donald and I are quackers about each other and we would like to thank all the people in Newry for their bread and seeds recently as gifts.”
