Newry’s Daisy Hill Hospital has been praised for their ground-breaking work in offering the people of Crossmaglen brain lobotomies in order to help them forget the painful reality that they are from Crossmaglen.
Specialist brain surgeons from across Ireland have volunteered their time for free in this major effort in helping those affected.
A spokesperson for the Health Service told us:
“This is seen as a very important move in order to help those poor unfortunate people who by no fault of their own live in Crossmaglen.
We have already carried out 30 lobotomies on Crossmaglen men and women and have started relocating the kids of the area who are young enough to rehabilitate without such drastic surgery.”
