Newry’s Ernie Campbell who is spearheading the ‘Secret Santa’ initiative where children from less fortunate circumstances get presents from Santa has told his wife, family and the public at large that he is the pop band ‘Steps’ biggest fan we can reveal.
Ernie has a public persona of a tattooed man who loves motorbikes, road racing and Liverpool FC but in the first time ever that the Newry man has opened up about his private life he has spoken out about his love of Steps.
Newry Spud spoke to Gavin Malone’s successor as the Patron Saint of Newry and he told us:
“It’s time I came out and told the truth. Ever since the first album ‘Step One’ back in 1998 I was smitten with the sweet dulcet tones of the band. I have been to see them over 50 times now all over Europe. Their new album ‘Tears on the Dancefloor’ is without doubt the best album I’ve heard since the release of ‘Light up the World’ back in 2012.”
