Down Gaelic footballers have decided to take up cricket instead of playing Longford in the Round 1B Championship qualifiers it has been revealed today.
Down manger Eamonn Burns told Newry Spud:
“Well to be honest after last Sunday’s 2-22 0-9 thumping by Monaghan we thought that given the high score we could take up cricket. It may be a bit fairer on the boys and maybe they will fare better at cricket as they clearly haven’t got the grasp of Gaelic football presently.”
The decision will be made this weekend at an extraordinary meeting of Down GAA officials.
