The Derrybeg Community Association has released plans of a new garden allotment initiative that is to both serve the community recreationally and financially they have said.
The allotments are allocated to those within the community to grow marijuana that will be sold on the streets of Newry to fund other community initiatives in the Derrybeg area.
Eileen Grant from the Housing Executive told Newry Spud:
“This is a great chance for local marijuana users to give back to their local community by both growing and selling the product in Newry thus ensuring much needed revenue will come back into the district. The ‘Beg Strain’ as it will be known on the streets is quite full flavoured and gives the user a feeling of quiet melancholy.”
