Local singer songwriter Damien Quinn has been added onto Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of Malawi and of Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth’s New Year’s Honours List we can reveal.
The voice behind ‘Justice’ who is widely recognised as one of Ireland’s finest folk performers is said to be ‘overjoyed’ with the official recognition for his services to music.
We spoke with Damien from the Rock Bar on the Fall’s Road were he was performing last night and he told us:
“Clearly any award is to be welcomed. The nearest thing I have gotten to an award was probably the bottle of Vodka I won in a Sinn Féin raffle last month. I’m also looking forward to playing ‘One Shot Paddy’ and ‘Black Watch’ at the after party in the Palace gardens.”
