Channel 4 have announced plans to start filming a new series of the hugely controversial ‘Benefits Street’ in Newry’s Parkhead we can reveal.
Series producer Dan Alcorn told Newry Spud:
“We couldn’t go back to the previous streets in England as we have been chased by the locals for showing them in a bad light so we thought we’ll go to Newry. We looked at the statistics for the city and we noticed Parkhead had the highest number of unemployed people, single mothers and criminals.
We have done some undercover work and we know this series in Newry is going to be epic. There are some absolute sad cases in the Parkhead area; we can’t wait to highlight them and make right cunts out of the local peasants.”
One local Parkhead man who made a successful career and life for himself and now lives miles away from the rundown estate Paul Malone who didn’t want to be named told Newry Spud:
“This is a fantastic idea; it will show how people live in this Newry ghetto but also show we have a good community spirit apart from the weekly house burglary’s and chronic deprivation. Me personally, I moved out as soon as humanly possible, I’d never ever go back even to visit family.”
