The residents of Newry and south Armagh are reeling today after the carnage caused by ‘Storm Brendan’.
Newry Spud has received several messages and calls in relation to the natural disaster that hit the district today.
We spoke with one Barcroft resident James Keenan who told us:
“It’s wild boy, I didn’t hear anything overnight because once I put my sleep-apnoea mask on I’m out for the count like but when I looked out and saw the front garden I was shocked and dismayed to see that the Amazon Lily’s we planted a few weeks ago were ever so slightly disturbed by the wind.”
The gale force winds not content with wrecking the Keenan’s Amazon Lily’s made its way to Camlough where they caused terrible destruction.
We spoke with the unofficial Lord Mayor of Camlough Diarmuid Lewis who told us:
“Thankfully we are all alive. However, the damage that we saw done to our wheelie bins will be etched in my mind for a long time. The black bin was on its side and the blue bin seemed to be at a slight 45 degree angle laying dangerously on the wall, someone could’ve been killed stone dead.”
