The hugely popular soap ‘Eastenders’ are to have a new family from Newry the BBC have said today.
With wide ranging ethnicities already on the programme BBC Bosses were keen to show a Newry family in the culturally diverse ‘Albert Square’.
The plot will involve a family from Carnagat Park who were put out of the Newry slum for showing pro-British sentimentalities.
An Eastenders insider told Newry Spud:
“We thought long and hard about what family to showcase next. We have Chinese, Indian and English so we thought, who can we bring in to make all the other marginalised communities look good and Newry stuck out to us.
We hope the new family from Newry will highlight the plight of those living in the slum and ghetto areas such as Derrybeg, Parkhead and Barcroft.”
