The small village of Camlough is like walking onto the set of the BBC programme Poldark we can reveal.
Although most other areas in the locality have some semblance of 2020 this seems to have escaped the residents of Camlough who ‘live in dark ages’ according to local sources.
Like the setting for Poldark in a dreary Cornwall mining town, Camlough is enjoying the simplicity of life with paraffin lamps, an open fire in the hearth to cook on and bedding made of straw.
One local told Newry Spud:
“Tis a grand way to live boy. We need little of life’s comforts around these parts. For anyone brave enough to sample the life of the ‘modern peoples’ there is a mystical town not far from here called Newry. Many have gone but none have returned to tell the tale.”
