There was some bemusement this morning when locals from the sleepy village of Mountnorris woke-up to a new Adolf Hitler statue erected in their midst.

The bronze statue that stands proudly looking over the village is thought to be erected in homage to local Pastor Barrie Halliday.

One local told us:

“It looks well. I like the colour of it and it’s nice and bright. It fairly spruces the village up. While I’m not 100% behind all of Hitler’s tactics and ideology we certainly like the fact that he tried to get rid of the Taigs from Germany. So the statue is more than welcome to stay in place as far as we’re concerned.”
