A Bessbrook man has sensationally been selected to represent Kenya for their National marathon team after completing his 30th marathon yesterday.
Davy Garey from Camlough Park in the village ran around the park for to a distance comparable to that of a marathon for Marie Curie in memory of his late mom Nancy.
His selection has raised some eyebrows in the athletics world as it is even suspect if Davy has even went further than Dundalk in his entire life never mind Kenya.
However a Kenyan athletics spokesman told us:
“David Garey is a well-known Kenyan with extensive links to the country. His prowess in marathon running is testament to that fact. We totally accept him as a Kenyan national but we will utterly and absolutely reject an application to travel to the country by his side-kick and chief agitator Mr Bootsy Fearon.”
