A Barcroft man is to travel to the Vatican this week to be canonised for Sainthood we can reveal.
Gavin Malone who fronts the Barcroft Resident’s Association was selected by Pope Francis for the rare honour of Sainthood. From Sunday onwards Mr Malone will be known as Saint Gavin the patron Saint of Community Associations.
We spoke with the future Saint and he told Newry Spud:
“It’s a great honour for myself. If truth were to be towl it’s long overdue. But it’s better late than never I suppose.”
However Malone’s new role will leave a vacum in the Barcroft Resident’s Association and Aine McCoy has said she’ll cease the opportunity to take over.
She told Newry Spud:
“This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for. I’m glad Saint Malone is going because I’d rather Panzer Boyle to help carry my big baps and creamy buns around to the pensioners. His muscles are so big compared to Gavin’s.”
