A controversial punishment for anyone caught ‘doing the double’ in the Newry area has been launched by the Assembly we can reveal.
‘Doing the double’ or working while claiming Jobseekers Allowance has reached epidemic proportions in the area and the government has said anyone caught doing so will be sent to live in Burren for a month.
However the European Court of Human Rights has said they will fight this decision saying:
“This is a most cruel and unusual punishment for trying to get a few extra pound in your pocket. While we don’t condone fraud we also don’t believe that any normal person should be sent into the abyss that is Burren, it’s simply unacceptable and cruel in nature.”
