Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor have both admitted last night at the weigh-in for their mega money fight that neither of them could have beat Gerald ‘Lofty’ Larkin in his prime.

Mayweather said while he has yet to meet Larkin; one of Ireland’s best fighters he has heard enough to know that he wouldn’t last two minutes with Newry’s favourite son.

McGregor also told Newry Spud:

“I met Lofty a few times, he helped me in the run up to my last 3 UFC fights. Even though I’m the pound for pound best fighter not just in Ireland but the world, Lofty in 1990’s Newry world have bate the Rubber Head off me.”
