An otherwise ordinary intelligent Newry man has told his friend to ‘Aye, jump in’ while pulling his eye downwards in an apparent act that suggests he doesn’t believe what is being said to him.
Last seen done in Newry around 1989 the ‘Aye, jump in’ saying seems to be making a resurgent come back.
One astounded onlooker told Newry Spud:
“The lad looked to be around 30 and he was talking to a friend when he made the ‘Aye, jump in’ signal in a most mocking manner. It was quite shocking to see this return to the streets of Newry. Like the RA, we thought this was something that no longer existed. Well, not like the RA, like Santa or something.”
