A Newry fast-food restaurant has been suspected of an illegal seizure of ‘counterfeit Friar Tuck’s coleslaw’ according to the HMRC who say they seized a van load of the fake coleslaw at Killeen.
The seizure is connected to an ongoing investigation that Milano’s are ‘ripping off’ Friar Tuck’s menu with similar coleslaw and super sauce and supreme meals.
A HMRC spokeswoman told us:
“We usually look out for red diesel and counterfeit cigarettes but this new threat of illicit Friar Tuck’s coleslaw is a worrying development.
There is a lot of discarded cabbages and mayonnaise along the south Armagh countryside as a by-product of the illegal coleslaw trade.”
