After an emotional ceremony in Washington Mr Bush will be flown by the Secret Service to Belfast international airport before being laid to rest in St Patrick’s church graveyard.

Mr Bush’s son Jeb told Newry Spud:

“Dad was born in a cowshed in Cullyhanna in 1924. He lived happily in the Dorsey area as a pig farmer but as times got harder he like others immigrated to the US.

His final wish was to be laid to rest in Cullyhanna so he can be back amongst the peasantry of south Armagh.”
