A Bessbrook man is to sensationally be selected for the European Ryder Cup team after winning the Ashfield Golf Captain’s Day tournament last weekend a European golfing insider confirmed tonight.
Rodney Quinn from The Green Road who has up until now had what can only be described as a ‘fledgling’ golfing career will replace county Down’s Rory McIlroy at the anticipated 42nd Ryder Cup in France next month.
Speaking from his Bessbrook mansion Quinn told Newry Spud:
“I’m quite flabbergasted to be honest. I think I might be in over my head here. I won the captain’s day tournament because there was only myself and a 7 year-old child taking part and even then I only beat him by one shot.
That being said, I’ll take this opportunity and run sorry jog with it. I’m taking my favourite niece Lorna to be my caddy so it will be a great experience.”
